Canvas Painting
Canvas paintings are durable and portable. You can take them along with you whenever you are on the move. Designing several scenes on many banners can be made possible with canvas painting. Canvas paintings can also be changed periodically to create new look without going through the rigors of doing the work all over again.
For a beginner who is trying to create an impression through canvas painting, one must consider some essential tips. A beginner in Canvas painting should know that canvas usually come in basically two weights- The heavier weight canvas which last longer and very durable as well as the smaller weights used to design smaller banners. Most heavy weight canvas comes with width dimensions of 48 in., 60 in., and 72 in. and in 33 yard lengths. You should first of all determine the size of the banner, and continue to add more width unto if that is necessary. You have to consider “the shrinking factor” in canvas painting, hence you should contact an expert at the fabric store to help you figure out the actual measurement of canvas you need for your intended banner size.
Secondly, you also need to determine your loop sewn at the top of the banner to accommodate rods to hang the banner from the top and at the bottom to support the base. You should also note that when the banner length is more than the length of the curtain rod, you should use an electrical conduit. The one that is most sued for this purpose is the 1-inch electrical conduits. Ensure that the bottom loop is constructed as much as possible to help keep the banner flat while your canvas painting is going on. It is very important to note that you must hang the canvass by the rods you want to use before you start painting. Don’t bother about the wrinkles because they will normally come out when you prime the canvas.
